JP Rubio Landero was born in Mexico and now lives in Vancouver where he shares his passion for BJJ with his community. JPs sister first sparked his desire to teach children as a school teacher for children herself. JP believes in BJJ as a tool to help children build important traits like discipline and self-confidence.
JPs approach to teaching kids is relationship-based. He really connects with each and every student to better understand how he can help each child grow and feel at home in the gym.
JP started grappling at 15 years old. He first focused on wrestling, winning regional and state championships in the Mexican State of Jalisco. Training alongside the Jalisco State Wrestling Team JP placed 3rd in Mexican Nationals as an Adult and a Juvinile.
In 2017 he changed his focus to jiujitsu as a full-time competitor. In 2019 while training for the IBJJF Nogi World Championships at Alliance Vancouver, JP caught the eye of the Alliance Vancouver management who soon after offered him a position as head instructor of the kids program.
